During the current Covid 19 (coronavirus) pandemic, East Sussex Deaf Children’s Society have been able to provide over 150 clear panel face masks to members and their families .
We have also contacted all our East Sussex MPs, providing them with clear panel face masks and asking them to lobby the government to provide PPE quality clear face masks for use in NHS settings. Eastbourne MP Caroline Ansell responded ‘ I wholeheartedly sympathise and support the concerns of the deaf community in Eastbourne during this pandemic. I have written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care to seek a response to these important concerns. Once I have received this response, I shall notify you without delay.’
Rosalind (our Secretary) and Anne (our Treasurer) were interviewed by Sky News about the need for clear panel face masks for deaf children.
Thanks to a wonderful group of sewing volunteers, we still have a selection of hand made masks with clear panels available, free to our members. We have both adult and child sizes. If you live in East Sussex and are, or would like to become a member of ESDCS, please let us know what you need and we’ll send it out to you!
Contact: TreasurerESDCS@gmail.com and let us know the numbers and sizes required. It helps to know the sex and age of the wearer to be able to provide a suitable colour/pattern/size.
